Cohorts & Study Teams
Cohort ExperienceThe collaborative and engaged student culture of the MBA program at Texas McCombs is by design. Before your first day, you’ll be placed into a Cohort –a group of MBA peers with whom you’ll navigate the curriculum. The cohort model fosters a shared experience among students and open dialogue within the classroom.
Study TeamsWithin your cohort, you’ll be matched up with a Study Team of 4 to 6 other students in your first year, each of whom bring different backgrounds and strengths to the group. You’ll work together and learn from each other as you tackle class assignments and business challenges.
1st Semester ResidencyBonding with your classmates is an invaluable part of the MBA experience. That’s why the program includes a Residency component, in which you’ll stay in Houston at Hotel ZaZa on class weekends during the first semester. The Residency cuts down on commute time, fosters a more immersive environment, and creates additional networking opportunities for students and faculty.
Texas McCombs in HoustonYour class weekends will take place at our campus at the University of Texas Health Science Center—an enormous institution in the Texas Medical Center district that contains state-of-the-art classroom designs, event space, dining, and parking— all smack dab in the middle of Houston. It’s an ideal environment for innovation and team collaboration.
The University of Texas at AustinYou’ll spend three times per year at Rowling Hall on the UT Austin campus for the Austin Intensive seminars. During these trips, you’ll have time to get to know your classmates and faculty better and to meet students from the other Texas McCombs Working Professional MBA programs in Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth.
